No one was hurt Wednesday morning when a train crashed into a tractor-trailer on Memory Lane at the Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. plant, police said.
At 10:07 a.m., a westbound train hit the side of a southbound tractor-trailer just behind the truck's cab, Springettsbury Township Police Chief Tom Hyers said.
Early reports indicate the railroad tracks' lights and warning system were activated at the time of the crash, Hyers said.
The tractor-trailer was pushed mostly off the road and needed to be towed from the scene, according to the chief.
The East Penn Railroad train sustained minor front-end damage that did not affect its ability to run, he said.
East Penn Railroad leases the track there from Norfolk Southern Railroad, Hyers said.
The train was carrying large rolls of steel coil, so there were no haz-mat issues, he said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, the chief said.
Memory Lane reopened about 1 p.m., police said.
