Three schools in the Southern York County School District were honored by Gov. Tom Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett Monday for their high achievement in last year's school profiles.

The schools received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Academics for achieving a 90 or higher on the school performance profiles.

The profiles were introduced last fall and rate school buildings on a scale of 0 to 100 based on students' performance on PSSAs, Keystones, and other factors such as attendance and graduation rates.

Susquehannock High School, Shrewsbury Elementary and Southern Elementary all received the award. Susquehannock scored 93.0 on the profile, Shrewsbury scored 90.4 and Southern scored 94.8.
