A West York woman allegedly made up a story about being robbed at gunpoint and will be charged, police said.

Amber Zech, 22, told police she was smoking a cigarette on the front porch of her house in the 1600 block of West Market Street when, about midnight on Thursday, a man armed with a handgun approached and demanded money.

Zech told officers she didn't have any money on her, at which point the robber forced her into her home, where he stole several items, police said.

Officers later determined Zech made up the story as a ploy to garner attention, according to police.

She will be charged with making a false report to law enforcement, police said.
