A 22-year-old Fairview Township man charged in Cumberland County for allegedly stealing guns to feed his heroin addiction is now charged in York County with theft of a motor vehicle, police say.
The charge against Matthew Daniel Churchey of the 600 block of Churchey Lane stems from an April 30 incident in which he allegedly stole a motorcycle from the 100 block of Old York Road, according to a news release from Fairview Township Police.
The Honda motorcycle was later found in the Yellow Breeches Creek, police said.
Churchey remains in Cumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail, police said.
West Shore Regional Police said Churchey broke into a vehicle in Lemoyne and stole two handguns that he traded for heroin. He later returned to the vehicle and damaged it, police said.
Churchey is charged with criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
