Registrations are being accepted for an August 5k run that benefits the York County Quick Response Team, a SWAT-style unit.
Newberry Township Police, along with QRT, will host the 8th Annual Run for the Team, which includes a fun walk and a competitive 5k run, on Saturday, Aug. 30. The race course will go through parts of the township and Lewisberry, according to a news release from the police department.
The race and walk are open to participants age 14 and over and will begin at 8:30 a.m., with registration from 7 to 8:15 a.m., at Lewisberry Park in the 500 block of West Market Street in the borough, release says.
The overall male and female winners will receive a trophy and a gift certificate to a restaurant, and the top two males and females in various age groups will also receive prizes.
Registration is $17 before Aug. 20 and $20 after that date. Organizers are also looking for race sponsors.
