Police said they have arrested the person responsible for stealing dozens of vehicle wheels and motor-home batteries.
Scott Harold Marron, 49, of 420 W. King St. in York City, is charged with theft and receiving stolen property by both Northern York County Regional Police and by Northeastern Regional Police, according to court records. The charges filed by Northern Regional Police are felonies.
He remains in York County Prison on a total of $11,000 bail.
Marron sold the stolen items for scrap metal at a local scrap dealer, Northern Regional Police said.
RV batteries: He is accused of stealing about a dozen batteries from camping trailers and motor homes parked at homes and storage facilities since March. Police said the 12-volt marine/RV batteries are worth between $100 and $200 each, and have a scrap value of $10 or $20.
The thefts happened on North Lake, South Lake, Schoolhouse and Church roads in Paradise Township; Lincolnway Drive, Biesecker Road and Pine Springs Boulevard in Jackson Township; and Willow and Harmony Grove roads in Dover Township, police said.
Marron also stole 28 aluminum vehicle wheels from a business in the 6600 block of Lincoln Highway West (Route 30) in Jackson Township in late March, police allege.
Wheels recovered: Police found the stolen wheels at a York City scrap dealer, and they either have been or will be returned to the owner, according to Northern Regional Lt. David Lash.
After being caught, Marron rode around with Northern Regional investigators and showed them the locations where he stole batteries, according to charging documents.
Northeastern Regional Police did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment on their allegations against Marron.
Northern Regional Police said their investigation into Marron continues. Anyone with information is asked to call them at (717) 292-3647, or leave a tip online at nycrpd.org.
