A popular York City restaurant and bar is for sale.

Cobblestone's owner of 16 years said in a statement it "is time for new energy and a fresh perspective."

"I have spent a portion of my life here and it has a special place in my heart," Vernon Shire said in the statement. "I would like to see someone take it to the next level."

Shire started with the property as an investor in 1997. He later became Cobblestone's sole owner.

Ready to retire, Shire listed the 205-209 S. George St. property for sale through ROCK Commercial Real Estate on Tuesday.

He is asking $895,000 for the building, liquor license, equipment, furniture and nearly everything else inside, said John Birkeland of ROCK.

"I think that maybe Vernon wants to take a picture off the wall that's sentimental to him," Birkeland said. "This is literally a turn-key opportunity."

The three-story, 37,168-square-foot property is known as the Columbus Home building, originally founded by the York Council of The Knights of Columbus in 1926, according to the restaurant's website.

The property also includes two retail spaces with storefronts on South George Street.

Anyone interested in more information or to schedule a time to tour the property should contact Ben or John at (717) 854-5357.
