Because of the approaching inclement weather, the Dover vs. Pocono Celebrity Softball Game, scheduled for Wednesday at Santander Stadium, has been canceled.
NASCAR Drivers Kasey Kahne and Jamie McMurray will be unable to appear at the Revolution game that evening because of the negative forecast.
"When planning great events like the celebrity softball game for our fans, Mother Nature is one thing we can't control," said Mike Tatoian, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Dover Motorsports, Inc., in a news release. "And the safety of our fans and all participants in the game needs to take precedence. We're disappointed we won't have the opportunity to defend our 2013 victory, but look forward to resuming our rivalry with our friends at Pocono Raceway in 2015."
As of right now, the Revolution's game against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Wednesday is still scheduled for 7 p.m. Whether that game is played or not, fans may exchange those tickets free of charge for a future Revolution home game of their choice, based on availability, because the promotional aspect of the night has been canceled.
In an effort to make it up to fans who purchased tickets specifically for NASCAR Night, any fan holding tickets to the April 30 game will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets (two) to either Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway (June 1) or Pocono Raceway (June 8). A total of 24 pairs of race tickets will be drawn for winners, since ticket giveaways every half inning was to be a part of the baseball game that evening. Winners will be drawn on Monday, May 12.
Fans who purchased tickets to NASCAR Night on April 30 with a credit card have already been added to the drawing automatically. Fans who purchased tickets to that game with cash may enter the drawing by showing their tickets in the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office at Santander Stadium. Fans may also exchange their tickets for a future Revolution game at that time if they choose. The Revolution will contact the winners of the race tickets shortly after they are drawn.
Gates at Santander Stadium were originally set to open at 4 p.m. for the NASCAR event on Wednesday. Gates will now open at the usual time of 5:30 p.m. instead, with the scheduled game time of 7 p.m. remaining, and not 6:30 p.m.
