CARLISLE, Pa. - A crash involving two tractor-trailers and a sport utility vehicle has left two people dead in central Pennsylvania.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 81 in Carlisle. All lanes of the highway were shut down for hours after the crash.
State police said the driver of the SUV, a 26-year-old man from Carlisle, crossed the median in South Middleton Township and collided head-on with one of the tractor-trailers, killing both drivers.
Police said a passenger in the tractor-trailer was transported to a hospital for treatment. The person's condition was not known.
The second truck driver swerved to avoid the crash and went up an embankment to the right of the highway and wasn't injured.
