Nine York County companies are finalists for the Governor's Impact Awards.

The awards, which will be annouced during a banquet on May 30, recognize businesses and entrepreneurs creating jobs and boosting the state's economy.

"Pennsylvania's businesses and entrepreneurs are the true drivers of our economy by employing so many hard-working Pennsylvanians," Gov. Tom Corbett said in a news release. "I'm proud to stand with some of the men and women who are helping to build a stronger Pennsylvania and applaud the 247 finalists of this year's Impact Awards."

Local finalists are named in five categories: Community Impact, Entrepreneurial Impact, Export Impact, Jobs First and Small Business Impact.

Community:

-AquaPhoenix Scientific, a Hanover manufacturer that makes water-testing kits

Entrepreneurial:

-MRG Labs, a chemistry-analysis firm in York City

-Nuts About Granola, a granola manufacturer in York City

Export:

-International Water Co., a York Township company that makes water-purification systems

-Klinge Corporation, a refrigeration manufacturer in Springettsbury Township

-Oakworks Inc., a spa-table manufacturer in New Freedom

Jobs First:

-Pennex Aluminum Co., a metal supplier in Wellsville

Small Business:

-Legacy Athletic, an apparel company in Hanover

-The Flinchbaugh Co., a Manchester-based company that provides custom machining and shop services
