A two-vehicle crash on an icy Dover Township road last month that killed a Warrington Township woman has now claimed the life of her teenage son.

John Jackson, 16, of the 1700 block of Alpine Road in Warrington Township, died of head trauma at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday in York Hospital, according to York County Deputy Coroner Steve Cosey.

No autopsy is planned, he said.

Jackson's mother, 52-year-old Karen Lee Jackson of the same address, was pronounced dead at the scene of the March 30 crash.

It happened about 4:50 p.m. March 30 on Carlisle Road near the Blackberry Road intersection, Northern York County Regional Police said.

John Jackson was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee southbound when he lost control on ice. The Jeep went into the northbound lane and crashed into a Dodge Durango, police said.

The Jacksons were trapped in the Jeep and had to be freed by firefighters, police said.

The teen had a learner's permit, Regional Lt. David Lash confirmed.

The driver of the Durango — a 44-year-old Dover Township man — suffered minor injuries in the crash, Lash said.
