A woman was shot Wednesday night in York City, and police say robbery was a possible motive.

The woman, described as being in her 60s, was taken to York Hospital with a non-life threatening injury, said Sgt. Craig Losty.

She was shot just before 9 p.m. between the area of East Princess and South Sherman streets and a home where she was found in the 300 block of Girard Avenue, Losty said.

Officers searched the neighborhood for evidence. Police are also looking for a suspect, but a description was not available Wednesday night.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call city police at (717) 846-1234, or call the city's anonymous crime tip line, (717) 849-2204. Or anonymously text a tip to YORKTIPS at 847411.
