Newberry Township Police are investigating a spate of burglaries during which loose cash is taken from houses.

Police said similar burglaries have been reported in the northern part of the township in the area of Kise Mill Road, Stricker Drive and Stevens Roads.

The thief or thieves allegedly use pry tools to break into houses. But once inside are forgoing larger electronic items and are instead seeking out and stealing loose cash kept in drawers and other containers, police said.

In one case, homeowners did not know their home had been burglarized until several days after it happened, police said.

Police encourage residents who have been victims of a burglary to contact police.

Anyone with information is asked to contract police at (717) 938-2608, or through York County 911.
