Memorial Hospital has announced a change that will help reduce expenses without affecting patient care.

But some employees will lose their jobs in the process.

The Spring Garden Township hospital will move some of its business office functions to a centralized office in Easton, Pa., according to spokesman Jason McSherry.

The move will affect up to 25 jobs, he said. Memorial will retain positions that handle other key business responsibilities and face-to-face customer interactions, McSherry said.

The hospital hopes to minimize the loss of jobs by placing some affected workers in vacant positions and possible future openings, he said.

"We appreciate our employees and are doing what we can to retain as many as possible," McSherry said in an email.
