Cary Laine not only turned in one of the best performances on The Voice Tuesday night.

She also made one of the night's most shocking coaching choices.

The country singer from Alabama professed her admiration for Blake Shelton in her pre-performance interviews.

But faced with heavy lobbying from all four coaches after her fine cover of "Better Dig Two," Cary opted to join Team Adam instead.

She was one of five new cast members viewers met during Tuesday's episode. The others were returning auditioner Delvin Choice, who also turned four chairs, Madilyn Paige, Deja Hall and Noah Lis.
