Schindler Elevator Corp. on Tuesday announced it opened its new manufacturing facility in Hanover.

The New Jersey-based elevator maker relocated its Adams County operations to York County and built a 150,000-square-foot building on a 23-acre site at 21 Industrial Drive in Penn Township Industrial Park.

Schindler will use the Hanover facility to make doors, entrances, jambs and elevator cab interiors, according to a company press release.

The new plant also includes an order-fulfillment warehouse, which will help Schindler achieve shorter delivery times to customers, the release said.

About 60 employees work in the new plant, and Schindler will employ 90 people when the facility reaches full capacity, the release said.

Schindler Elevator Corp. is the U.S. operation of Schindler Group, a Switzerland-based manufacturing firm with more than 48,000 employees.
