A Dover-area woman died in a head-on crash that injured three others in Lancaster County on Saturday.

Kaitlyn E. Berry, 24, died of multiple traumatic injuries, said Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni.

She was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital after the 1:20 p.m. crash, according to a news release from Manheim Township Police.

Berry was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her mother, who was critically injured in the crash, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the one Berry was in faces homicide by vehicle and other charges. Police have said they believe alcohol was a factor.

The crash: Police say Carlos R. Garcia, 33, of 35 E. Lemon St. in Lancaster, was driving west in the 1300 block of East King Street in

Lancaster Township when he rear-ended the car in front of him.

The driver of that car, Cat Hoang, 70, of Lancaster, was not injured, police said.

After that crash, Garcia's vehicle crossed the center line into the westbound lane where it collided head on with the vehicle Berry was in, police said.

Witnesses told officers that Garcia was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash, police said.

Berry, her 47-year-old mother, of Lancaster Township, Garcia, and a 7-year-old passenger who was in Garcia's vehicle, were taken to Lancaster General for treatment. Garcia and the 7-year-old suffered minor injuries and were released.

Police have not released the name of Berry's mother.

Charged: But Garcia wasn't free from the hospital's care long before officers arrested him.

Now he's charged with homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle, accident involving death while not licensed, child endangerment, reckless driving and driving on a DUI related suspended licence, police said.

Police have said they believe Garcia was intoxicated at the time of the crash and are awaiting results from a blood/alcohol test before additional charges are filed.

Garcia remains in Lancaster County Prison on $150,000 bail, according to court records.

Garcia's most recent court records do not list an attorney for him.
