A Shrewsbury Township man is facing numerous criminal charges after he allegedly shot at his neighbors with a rifle just after noon Sunday.
State police have accused 60-year-old James Michael Mitchell of 1648 Deer Creek Road of firing a single shot at fellow Deer Creek Road residents Benjamin Seward Sr. and Travis Seward.
At 12:03 p.m. Sunday, the two were sitting in their home when they heard three gunshots that sounded like they were close to the house, police said.
They walked to the end of their driveway and saw Mitchell standing 50-60 yards away, holding a rifle, police said.
Benjamin Seward Sr. yelled to Mitchell to ask what he was shooting at, and Mitchell raised the rifle to his eye, took aim, and fired a single shot at the men, according to police.
Officers found a Winchester rifle and other firearms upon taking Mitchell into custody at his house, police said.
Mitchell was taken to Central Booking and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, a firearms possession violation, making terroristic threats, simple assault, and reckless endangerment. He was released on $200,000 bail.
