An autopsy Monday failed to determine the cause of death for a 37-year-old Hellam Township man found dead in his home Friday, York County Coroner Pam Gay said.

More tests are being done to make that determination, she said.

Hellam Township Police were called to a home in the 5500 block of East Market Street about noon Friday after someone asked authorities to check on the man's welfare, township Police Chief Mark Sowers said.

Police closed that portion of East Market Street while they investigated.

Sowers said the man did not suffer a gunshot wound and that no shots were fired. The incident was never a standoff, the chief said.

"It appeared he had been deceased for some time," Sowers said.

Gay said it will take several weeks to get results from the additional testing.
