When it comes to the weather, having a plan can be invaluable.

That's why York County hospitals are continuing operations as normal, spokesmen said during Thursday's snowstorm.

Staffing at York Hospital is at adequate levels, said WellSpan Health spokesman Barry Sparks.

About 60 staff members stayed at the hospital on Wednesday night, and he said that an equal number will probably stay over again on Thursday.

Some patients who were scheduled for imaging tests and appointments Thursday were able to reschedule for Wednesday or Friday, Sparks said. Patients who were able to be discharged were sent out on Wednesday, he said.

"As of right now, everything's pretty good," Sparks said. "We are used to preparing for these things."

Memorial Hospital is also performing as normal, said spokesman Jason McSherry. Some staff members volunteered to stay at the hospital overnight Wednesday, he said.

"We have a tremendously dedicated staff and great associates there to make sure we provide the best care to patients around the clock," McSherry said.
