A large chunk of ice flying off a tractor-trailer caused a crash on I-83 in Newberry Township, according to state police.
The driver, a 64-year-old woman, escaped injury, but the ice smashed through her windshield and her car had to be towed, police said.
Police are still searching for the driver of the tractor-trailer. Anyone with information should call state police at (717) 428-1011.
PennDOT issued an appeal Tuesday, reminding motorists to clear their vehicles of snow and ice -- including its roof -- before driving.
According to state law, drivers can be held accountable for injuries caused by ice or snow falling from vehicles. Fines range from $200 to $1,000.
