A homeowner scared away two burglars he stumbled upon inside his Jackson Township home last week, police said.

The man was in the basement of his home in the 800 block of Lefever Road shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday when he heard people walking around on the first floor, Northern York County Regional Police said.

He then found a male in his 20s rummaging through a dresser drawer in a bedroom, Lt. David Lash said.

The homeowner yelled at the intruder, who called out to his accomplice, Lash said.

Both intruders then ran past the homeowner and fled the home, taking off in a blue Cadillac, he said.

"The vehicle seen leaving the scene has led our investigators to narrow down suspects in this crime," Lash said.

The burglars made off with some jewelry, the lieutenant said.
