York County businessman Tom Wolf will be among six Democratic gubernatorial candidates participating in a Meet the Candidates Night being held Friday in Harrisburg.
The event was organized by the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, formerly the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and candidates are expected to answer questions about civil justice and share their views on issues.
A Mount Wolf resident, Wolf is chairman and CEO of York-based family company The Wolf Organization, which deals in kitchen cabinets and specialty building products. He served as Secretary of Revenue under Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell, and dropped a bid for the governor's office four years ago because his company was in trouble.
His campaign announced earlier this month that it has raised more than $13 million, $10 million of which was a personal contribution from the candidate and his wife.
Eight Democrats have announced their candidacy in the May 20 primary, with the winner challenging Republican Gov. Tom Corbett's bid for a second term.
Wolf will attend Friday's forum with former state environmental protection secretaries John Hanger of Dauphin County and Katie McGinty of Chester County, Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Lebanon County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz and Cumberland County pastor Max Myers. The two other candidates are state Treasurer Rob McCord of Montgomery County and U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, also of Montgomery.
The forum is open to the public and will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at the Harrisburg Hilton, 1 N. 2nd St.
