A jury on Wednesday acquitted a former Thomasville man of child rape.
Phillip Joseph Grove, 63, now of Florida, had been charged with multiple counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and other offenses.
He contested the charges and was represented at trial by defense attorney Chris Ferro.
On Wednesday afternoon, jurors acquitted Grove of all charges against him.
He had been accused by two children, a brother and sister.
When the verdict was read, people sitting in the gallery on both sides of the courtroom burst into tears.
"My client maintained his innocence from the very beginning," Ferro said. "We're very pleased the jury saw through the absurd nature of the allegations and found him not guilty."
