An Adams County man was among a trio of people who assaulted an alleged bank robber inside his Hanover motel room, then stole the man's ill-gotten gains, according to police.
Hanover Police on Saturday arrested Jeffrey Jerome Dixon Jr., 26, of New Oxford. He is charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, simple assault, theft and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
He remains in York County Prison on $20,000 bail.
The attack happened shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday at a motel in the 900 block of Carlisle Street, according to Hanover Police Chief Dwayne Smith. Court documents indicate it was the Clearview Motor Inn.
Ryan Palmer, 23, of Littlestown had been staying at the motel and was wanted by Littlestown Police for allegedly robbing a bank there on Tuesday, police said.
When Palmer was arrested Wednesday evening by Littlestown Police, he told them he had been assaulted and robbed of the "large amount" of stolen bank money, plus cigarettes, while inside a motel room, Smith said.
Palmer said Dixon was one of the attackers, and told investigators he'd spoken to Dixon on the phone prior to the attack, police said.
As of Monday afternoon, the bank's money had not been recovered, according to Smith.
Anyone with information about the attack, the identities of the two wanted attackers or the location of the missing cash is asked to call the York County 911 Center's non-emergency Hanover-area line at (717) 637-5575.
