U.S. Marshals Tuesday arrested a York City man wanted in connection with an October shooting in the city.

Elvin Rafael Mateo, 19, no address provided, was arrested at a house on East Street, according to a news release from the marshals service.

He fled from the house but ran back inside when he ran into law enforcement officers. Officers found Mateo trying to hide inside the house, the release states.

Officers seized two guns from the house, the release says.

Mateo faces charges of possession of a prohibited firearm, carrying a gun without a license and receiving stolen property, the release says.

The charges stem from a shooting in the area of West Market and West streets. Marshals say two suspects -- one of whom was Mateo -- dropped two guns as they fled the area.

A warrant for Mateo's arrest was issued by district judge Richard Martin on Dec. 17, the release says.

State police, the York City Police Department and the York County Sheriff's Office aided in the investigation.
