An 8-year-old Mount Wolf girl suffered broken legs when she was struck by a van in Mount Wolf on Friday afternoon, police said.

Northeastern Regional Police Lt. Howard Daniels said the girl was treated at a local hospital and is expected to fully recover.

The girl, whose name wasn't released, ran out in front of a James Craft & Son service van on Center Street near the Fifth Street intersection, Daniels said.

It happened about 3 p.m. Friday.

Daniels said the 46-year-old man who was driving the work van will not be charged because the accident wasn't his fault.

The girl forgot to look both ways before running out into the street, according to Daniels.

The driver swerved and tried to avoid her, but could not, the lieutenant said.

Center Street had to be shut down by responding officers and firefighters.
