A portion of Cool Creek Road in Lower Windsor Township has reopened to through traffic for the first time in nearly 10 months, PennDOT said.
The road reopened at 12:30 p.m. Monday after being closed since March 4, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Cool Creek Road had been closed between Adams and Nursery roads so construction crews could remove two concrete slab structures that spanned an unnamed tributary to the Canadochly Creek and replace them with two precast box culverts.
Kinsley Construction Inc. of York was awarded the nearly $3 million contract, PennDOT said.
Kinsley crews will return in the spring to do finish resurfacing the road, paint new traffic lines and put down topsoil and seed, PennDOT said.
Cool Creek Road averages 4,480 vehicles a day, according to PennDOT.
