Springettsbury Township Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who fled he scene after hitting a man in a motorized wheelchair on East Market Street on Sunday evening.

Joseph Ziemba, 77, of York City, escaped life-threatening injuries during the 6:35 p.m. hit-and-run, which was near the intersection of Mills Street, according to township police Lt. Todd King.

Ziemba, who was treated for his injuries at a local hospital, was operating his motorized wheelchair eastbound in the right westbound lane of Market Street when an SUV struck him and kept going, King said. The SUV is dark-colored, maybe dark blue or black, he said.
