Two Northern Regional police officers have been honored by their department for saving the life of a would-be suicide victim.

Cpl. Jeff Sierotowicz and Officer Frank Biesecker were given life-saving awards on Dec. 17 for their efforts at a home on Susquehanna Trail in Conewago Township about 11:40 p.m. Oct. 6, Northern York County Regional Police said.

Police said the two officers were called to the home for a man who tried to hang himself. When they arrived, they found the man on the floor, without a pulse. He had been cut down by a loved one, police said.

Sierotowicz and Biesecker performed chest compressions and rescue breathing on the man until an ambulance arrived, then continued to help the ambulance crew until the man was revived, police said.
