As part of a goal to have a pronounced country music presence at the York Fair next fall, organizers have announced that Hunter Hayes will perform at the Grandstand of Stars on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Hayes' self-titled debut album has produced three consecutive No. 1 singles, and the musician was nominated for three Grammy awards in 2013.

York Fair president Gene Schenck said the team worked hard to have Hayes visit York, and said he hopes the performer will help to add an extra sense of excitement to the fairground activities.

"He's a giant country star, and we thought he would lead off our lineup," Schenck said.

Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. Schenck said fans should order tickets as soon as possible, especially because a revamped seating area on the track will decrease the area's capacity by about 1,000 seats.

Schenck said the change has been considered for a few years, and comes after multiple complaints the rows and aisles were too narrowly spaced. Schenck said the new seating arrangement will provide better views for concert-goers, and hopefully a better experience.

Track, center plaza and box seats are $54 with processing fees if ordered by phone, mail or Internet. Center seating tickets are $49, side plaza and side loge are $44 and general seating tickets on the sides are $39.

Hayes is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13. For more information, visit www.yorkfair.com.
