James Wolpert's run on The Voice came to an end Tuesday evening.

The young man from Lancaster advanced to the final five last week via an instant save.

But on this week's elimination show to determine the three Voice finalists, he was the first contestant sent home.

James had performed U2's "With or Without You" on Monday's show and received praise from coach Adam Lambert and from Blake Shelton.

But while the song cracked the top 20 on the iTunes singles chart when voting ended Tuesday morning, it was also the least downloaded of the five performances from Monday's show.

James became the fourth straight Voice contestant to be saved via Twitter one week only to go home the next. The last contestant to fall to that fate was fellow Pennsylvanian Matthew Schuler of West Chester University.
