Chandra Lomax has a lot of hope for Dec. 25.

"I'm hoping to put a smile on a child's face on Christmas Day," she said. "I just want to make a less-fortunate child happy."

Lomax, 49, of Manchester Township, is a member of IV Sisters Motorcycle and Social Club, based in York City. The six-member group, which formed in August, is made up of women who ride or desire to ride motorcycles and want to serve the community.

Toy drive: IV Sisters is holding a toy drive from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the West Manchester Mall, 1800 Loucks Road in West Manchester Township.

The club will have a collection site set up by the mall's orange entrance. The donated toys should be unwrapped, Lomax said.

The club's goal is to collect at least 60 toys for children ages 3 months to 12 years, she said.

The toys will be given to three social agencies that will deliver the play items to families in need.

The agencies are Bell Socialization family shelter and the Lehman Center, both in York, and the YWCA Greater Harrisburg shelter for women and children.

"We want to do something positive for the community and do something that children can benefit from," Lomax said. "This (toy drive) is to help children, but we also do activities where children can get involved and help out."

Lomax said her daughter, Dimirra Lomax, 8, will be helping club members at the toy drive.

Want to help: While the upcoming toy drive is a first for the newly-formed IV Sisters MC/SC, the club has served breakfast to people in need and done volunteer work and fundraising projects to support nonprofit organizations, Lomax said.

"We have a heart for the community and we want to give back and help nonprofit organizations," she said. "We hope people will (know) that if they need something, they can reach out to us for help."
