Kohl's on Thursday announced special holiday hours that will give shoppers around-the-clock access to retail stores during the five days leading up to Christmas.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, the department store will stay open for more than 100 consecutive hours until it closes at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, which falls on a Tuesday.

The extra hours will make it easier for consumers to shop for last-minute gifts during the already-short holiday shopping season.

The 27-day period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the shortest holiday shopping season since 2002 and is six days shorter than last year.

Kohl's, a Wisconsin-based retailer, operates stores in Springettsbury and West Manchester townships.
