The City of York and Shipley Energy will present Light Up Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in downtown York.

Because of the rainy weather forecast, some of the entertainment and activities planned for Continental Square before the tree lighting are being moved indoors to Central Market and the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center.

New Hope Academy students will perform at 5:15 p.m. inside the Strand, followed by Greater York Dance at 5:45 p.m. The William Penn High School Symphonic Band will perform at 5:30 p.m. inside the market.

The tree lighting will go on at 6:20 p.m. on Continental Square as scheduled, and then Santa will visit with children at Martin Library.

Thanks to a partnership with Tyler Brown Photography, every child will be able to leave with a complimentary 4x6 photo with Santa. Martin Library staff will also offer craft activities for children while they wait to speak with Santa.

A Toys for Tots collection has been moved indoors to Central Market near Bair's Fried Chicken.

An updated event map with revised schedule of events and locations is posted at www.yorkcity.org/LightUpNight.
