A man was displaced when a fire damaged his Fairview Township home Monday.

First responders from York and Cumberland counties were sent to the house in the 600 block of Old York Road about 4:30 p.m.

"About a quarter for the house was fully involved by the time we arrived on the scene," said Bill Carlisle, the township fire chief. It didn't take long for firefighters to have the blaze extinguished, but they remained on the scene for a length of time to aid in the investigation.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, Carlisle said, adding the fire started in the bedroom.

The man was not at home when the blaze broke out. He is staying with friends, the chief said.

The fire caused an estimate $150,000 in damage, Carlisle said.
