A York Township woman returned home Wednesday morning to discover a burglar in her home, police said.
It happened about 10:30 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Briggs Circle, York Area Regional Police Sgt. Jeff Dunbar said.
"The homeowner came home and encountered the individual in the house," he said. "She yelled, and the individual ran out the back."
Officers arrived on the scene quickly and searched the area for about two hours, but were unable to find the burglar, Dunbar said.
"He was last seen fleeing through a wooded area to the rear of the residence," the sergeant said.
The woman wasn't hurt, according to Dunbar, who said the burglar forced his way into the home.
Assisting in the search were Sgt. Sam Shipley and his K-9 partner, Lou the bloodhound, from the York County Sheriff's Office.
The burglar is described as a white male, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-7, wearing light-colored jeans, a dark sweatshirt and hat, and a bandanna over his face.
