Update: The National Weather Service has extended the severe thunderstorm warning for York and Lancaster counties until 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Previous: Severe weather will move through the York area on Friday, with most of the storms coming in the morning.
York County and the rest of central Pennsylvania are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:30 a.m. Friday and a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The area also has a wind advisory until 2 p.m.
A cold front moving through the area is producing storms capable of having winds up to 60 mph, hail 1 inch in diameter or more and heavy downpours, the NWS said. Winds are expected to be highest at higher elevations.
Friday's high will be 73 and the low 49, the forecast said.
Winds will continue Saturday, with west winds of 8-13 mph gusting up to 20 mph, the service said. Saturday will be partly sunny, with a high of 61 and low of 42.
Sunday will also be windy, with northwest winds of 11-17 mph gusting up to 26 mph, the forecast said. Sunday will be sunny, with a high of 53 and low of 29.
Monday will also be sunny, with a high of 49 and low of 36, and Tuesday will see clouds return, with a high of 58 and low of 46, the forecast said.
