A number of Spring Grove middle and high school students suffered bumps and bruises when the school bus they were on was involved in a crash in Heidelberg Township Thursday morning.
Now Southwestern Regional Police are looking for the driver of the pickup truck that struck the bus and then fled the scene.
The pickup truck rear-ended the bus as it was stopped at a railroad crossing on Old Hanover Road near Sycamore Drive about 7:05 a.m., according to a news release from police.
An unknown number of students suffered bumps and bruises and one student received medical attention for a non-life threatening injury, police said.
The pickup truck driver remained on scene for a short time but told the bus driver she would return and left, police said.
The woman did not return, and now police are searching for her. The driver is described as a 40- to 50-year-old white female with blond hair. She was driving a brown Chevrolet pickup truck, police said.
The bus driver was able to get the pickup's license plate number, and a video camera on the bus recorded the crash, police said.
Anyone who was a witness to the crash, or knows the pickup truck driver is asked to contact Officer Holly Jackson, at (717) 225-1333 ext. 114, or through 911.
