A fire that damaged a Codorus Township home will be investigated by a state police fire marshal.
Firefighters from Seven Valleys and surrounding departments were dispatched to the home in the 3400 block of Shaffers Church Road about 7:30 p.m. Monday and arrived to find flames shooting through the roof of the home, said Chief Scott Lackey of the Seven Valleys Fire Co.
The firefighters had the fire knocked down within minutes of arriving on scene, the chief said.
"The first engine crew in did one exceptional job," Lackey said.
The fire was mainly contained to the attic, but it did extend slighting into the lower walls of the house. The house also sustained smoke and water damage, he said.
The family, which is in the process of moving out of the house, was home at the time but got out safely.
No injuries were reported. An estimate of damage was not available Monday night.
A fire marshal is expected to investigate the blaze Tuesday, Lackey said.
