A Manchester Township man called police after finding a small, remote-controlled drone aircraft in his front yard on Oct. 7, police said.

"It doesn't appear as if there's anything nefarious going on here," Northern York County Regional Police Lt. David Lash said.

Officers picked up the drone from the man, who lives in the 400 block of Skyview Drive, and officers are now trying to find its owner, he said.

"It's probably 18 inches (wide) ... and it has a camera mounted on it," Lash said. "From what we can see, it appears someone was flying it at night and taking panoramic pictures of the countryside and of the city lights."

No one has filed a missing-property report with police, despite the fact that the drone is expensive, according to the lieutenant.

The person who owns the drone can claim it by calling police at (717) 292-3647 and providing verification of ownership, Lash said.
