York County has hired a new top technology executive, replacing retired Department of Information Services director Al Raniero.
Raniero retired Aug. 2 after serving as director for 19 years.
The department oversees the county's computer networks and programs used by numerous county offices.
Joseph Sassano will take the reins Oct. 21 and be paid $106,000 per year. Raniero retired at a salary of $106,276.
Sassano is currently chief information officer at Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund. He has a master's degree in science information systems from Penn State University.
