A teacher at Bermudian Springs High School in Adams County sexually propositioned a student in 2011 by asking her to engage in a threesome with him and his wife, state police allege.
Robert C. Bonner, 39, of 110 Midway Drive in Carroll Township outside Dillsburg, is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, charged with the third-degree felony of endangering the welfare of a child and the first-degree misdemeanor of corruption of a minor.
District Superintendent Shane Hotchkiss said Bonner was a chemistry teacher at the high school from Aug. 2006 until September 2012. Bonner resigned on Aug. 31, he said.
"He was our baseball coach as well," Hotchkiss said.
It was the district that first notified police after learning of the alleged conduct, according to the superintendent.
"The district has fully cooperated with authorities since the initiation of their investigation and will continue to do so," Hotchkiss said, adding the district always investigates and takes seriously allegations of inappropriate conduct.
According to charging documents, during the high school's finals week in 2011 Bonner summoned a 17-year-old girl out of her psychology final exam and handed her a note.
"He told me to go to the end of the hall and read it, and bring it back to him," the girl told investigators, according to charging documents.
The handwritten note stated Bonner wanted her to have sex with him and his wife, documents allege.
The girl also told investigators that prior to that incident, Bonner had told her he wanted her to have sex with him, police allege.
Hotchkiss told police Bonner confirmed he'd asked the girl to engage in a threesome, documents state.
There was never any sexual contact between Bonner and the girl, according to state police Trooper Curtis Whitmoyer, who filed the charges on Thursday.
Bonner did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. Online court records do not list an attorney for him.
