A York City man escaped serious injury when he was shot early Monday morning, police said.

Taijeem Gibson, 20, of the 200 block of South Pine Street, suffered a grazing wound to his left thigh, according to York City Police, and went to York Hospital in a private vehicle for treatment. He arrived there about 12:30 a.m., police said.

Officers were called to the hospital, where they tried to find out from Gibson where he'd been when he was shot, and who the gunman was, police said. But Gibson was uncooperative and refused to answer questions, according to police.

About 11:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 600 block of West Princess Street for gunfire, but found no victims.

Police said it's possible Gibson was shot there, but said they can't be sure because he wouldn't confirm it.

He was treated and released from York Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
