A West York man was awakened early Friday morning when a strange, bloodied woman who was allegedly trying to escape police crawled into bed with him.
The woman, Melody Lynn Lehigh, 26, of 161 Chesapeake Estates in Jackson Township, got into the man's apartment after she head-butted a window, according to her charging documents.
After she was arrested, Lehigh allegedly kicked a West York Police officer a number of times, documents state.
Lehigh is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. She was also wanted on three warrants for harassment.
She remains in York County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to a prison official.
Complaint: Borough police were dispatched an apartment building in the 1100 block of West Poplar Street at 1:52 a.m. for a noise complaint stemming from Lehigh and her boyfriend, who lives in the building, fighting.
As an officer approached the door, he saw a trail of blood leading from the apartment to a communal bathroom. The officer heard a scuffle in the bathroom and, once Lehigh's boyfriend opened the door, found the intoxicated man with blood on him and more blood in the bathroom, documents state.
The man told the officer that Lehigh crawled through the bathroom window to a balcony and left about 20 minutes prior.
A short time later, the officer heard coughing coming from the second-floor balcony and when he went to investigate, found Lehigh hiding on the balcony before she head-butted the window to a neighboring apartment and climbed through the window, documents state.
The officer went into the apartment and found Lehigh crawling in bed with the man who lives there. She told the officer that she was in the apartment the entire time, documents state.
However, the groggy tenant said he was asleep when he was awakened by the sound of shattering glass and found Lehigh getting into his bed, documents state.
Resisting: As Lehigh was being arrested, she yelled obscenities and struggled with the officer as he tried to put handcuffs on her, documents state.
Even after the handcuffs were on Lehigh, she managed to kicked the officer in the legs and groin a number of times, forcing him to use a stun gun to make stop her, documents state.
The officer was not hurt during the altercation, according to West York police.
Lehigh was covered in blood, had a bloody a nose and black and blue marks on her face, arms and legs she said were from "being drunk and crazy," documents state.
She told police that she had been assaulted the week before and that her boyfriend wasn't responsible for the injuries. Lehigh refused medical treatment, saying she didn't want to be a victim, documents state.
Court documents did not list an attorney for Lehigh.
