The following statements were issued Saturday after Mitt Romney announced U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.
U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey: "I am thrilled that Gov. Romney has chosen Paul Ryan as his running mate. In doing so, Gov. Romney has made the clearest, most unequivocal statement he could make that he intends his campaign and his presidency to be about solving America's greatest challenges. "Congressman Ryan is one of Congress' strongest voices advocating for economic growth through free enterprise and fiscal sense through controlling spending. I'm delighted we have a Romney-Ryan ticket."
Bob Kefauver , chairman of Democratic Party of York County: "By selecting Tea Party-darling Paul Ryan as his running mate, Mitt Romney is doubling down on his plan to return the nation to the failed policies that caused the economic crisis of 2007-08.
"Paul Ryan, with zero experience in foreign policy, is best known as the author of the "Ryan Budget" an extreme plan that balances tax cuts for millionaires with tax increases on low-income working families and would end Medicare as we know it. The selection of Paul Ryan is yet another clear indication of how out of touch Mitt Romney is with the American people."
