The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania has asked a court to throw out the state's new voter ID law set to go into effect this fall.
Suing on behalf of 10 state residents, the ACLU says the law, which requires voters to present a valid photo ID with an expiration date, will illegally disenfranchise voters. It creates an undue burden on the 80,000 to 90,000 people the eligible voters who do not have a photo identification card, many of whom are elderly or poor, the ACLU claims.
