TRAINER, Pa. - Delta Air Lines hopes to reopen its newly acquired suburban Philadelphia fuel refinery by the end of the summer.

Delta President Ed Bastian said Tuesday the airline wants the refinery in Trainer to be back up and running by Labor Day.

The airline reached a deal Monday to buy the shuttered refinery from ConocoPhillips, which closed it down in the fall. Delta hopes the $150 million deal will help cut its jet fuel bill.

Gov. Tom Corbett and other Pennsylvania officials are hailing the deal as a way to preserve 5,000 jobs at the refinery and in related industries.

Delta is getting a $30 million grant to help with the purchase and upgrades to the facility.
